The most awaited smartphone announcement of the year finally happened on 12th September. The event took place in the Steve Jobs theater in the Apple Campus, in California, and while celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the iPhone, the company announced iPhone 8, iPhone 8+ and iPhone X along with the all new Apple TV 4K and Apple Watch Series 3.
Beginning the event with remembering Steve Jobs and a little history of the Apple Products, the company introduced the Apple Watch Series 3. The most important change in the device from the last one is the introduction of the “eSIM” which makes the device capable of cellular functions without the need of an iPhone. Along with this new feature, the latest smartwatch from the Apple will come packed with a new operating system WatchOS 4. The device will be available from 22 September in the US. The company also announced the Apple TV 4K, which will have HDR support. The Apple TV 4K will run on Apple A10X chip, and the company is in talks with likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime to bring in 4K resolution content for the device. Tim Cook also mentioned that the company is planning to provide live sports for the users.

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus Launch
Packed with the all new A11 bionic processor and the iOS 11, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have also been announced by the Apple. The experts call these phones as a minor upgrade over the last year’s iPhone 7 series. These two new offerings by the Apple will support wireless charging as they have now a glass finished back. Both the phones are dust and splash proof and come with a Retina display.
iPhone 8 has a 4.8-inch display and the iPhone 8 Plus bears a 5-inch screen. Another highlight of both the devices is the presence of stereo speakers which will increase the loudness to 25% more than the iPhone 7 series. The phones will be available in Silver, Space Gray, and Gold Finish colors.
When it comes to optics, the iPhone 8 bears a 12 MP primary sensor and a 7MP sensor on the front. Apple claims that the camera on iPhone 8 will produce a better performance in the low light compared to its predecessors. The iPhone 8 Plus will come with a dual camera setup on the back, each being 12 MP sensors (f/1.2 and f/2.8) with Optical Image Stabilization feature. Apple also introduced a new feature of Portrait Lighting to produce images with different lighting conditions which are studio-like. The cameras on both the devices can support Augmented Reality, and the top developers are now working on to bring new games for these devices on the Apple Store. The pre-orders for both start on September 15 and the devices will be available on September 22 in the US and other selected countries.

iPhone X Launch
The last to come in the event was the Apple’s special for the 10-year anniversary. The company announced an entirely bezel-less phone with a 5.8-inch screen, the first of the kind from Apple. iPhone X (read iPhone 10) has no fingerprint sensor and has the feature of Face ID unlock, which Apple claims to be more secure than the biometric fingerprints. The smartphone will utilize various gestures, like swiping up for the home, to fill in for the missing home button.
The animated emojis, vertical primary camera setup and a bunch of optical sensors in front of the phone are some of the key highlights of the iPhone X. This flagship by the Apple will come with iOS 11 and run on the A11 bionic, just like the other iPhones launched in this event. The iPhone X will be available in Silver and Space Grey colors. Camera specs include a 7 MP front facing camera which will have a dedicated Portrait Mode feature. On the back, the iPhone X sports a vertical dual camera setup of 12 megapixels each with apertures; f/1.8 and f/2.4. The pre-order of the phone starts from 27 October and will be shipping from 3 November this year.
